Default [SOLVED] Re-creating the spam training e-mail account

    Hi,

I just set up Release 4.5.6_GA_1044.RHEL4_20070706225645 CentOS4 FOSS edition. I have set up an alias (junk@domain) pointing to the spam training account for each of our domains that our mail server is hosting. The problem is that the messages being forwarded to spam@domain don't appear to be reaching the spam training account and are instead being deposited into our catchall account.

Is there any way to find out why this would occur so we can fix it?

    Thanks.

That's one reason you shouldn't have a catch-all account, they're a spammers dream. If the messages are getting to the catch-all account rather than the designated account then your users must be sending them to the wrong place. A catch-all will catch messages that don't have a valid recipient address.

I understand why the messages are going to the catchall account. What I don't understand is why if I set up the alias junk@domain on the spam account created by Zimbra during the installation, why are e-mails being sent to that account going to the catchall account and not the spam training account?

Sorry, it wasn't clear, I was trying to say you should check the user is sending it to the correct account. If you send it to the spam account directly rather than the alias does it get ther or end-up in the catch-all?

If I forward the spam directly to the spam training account's e-mail address (spam..exda0ody@domain) it goes into the catchall account and does not show up in the spam training account.

When using the Zimbra web client to mark a message as Junk, I find that a message is sent to the catchall account with the subject zimbra-spam-report: richard@hddbroker.com: spam. There is no messages in the spam training mail account at all.

I tested the notjunk@domain alias created for the ham training account and it seems to work fine. If I forward a message to notjunk@domain or click the Not Junk button in the Zimbra web client, I see the messages in the ham training account.

It appears that on my installation that the spam training account isn't being recognized for some reason. Can this account be re-created or re-initialized or something?

Let's check the accounts and see if they're set correctly, run this command:
    Code:
zmprov gacf | grep -i spamis
    and let's see the output.

    This is what was returned:

    Code:
    zimbraSpamIsNotSpamAccount: ham.eennz.c4g@hddbroker.com
    zimbraSpamIsSpamAccount: spam..exda0ody@hddbroker.com

The accounts look like they are created correctly (from what I can tell). The ham account seems to work fine. Is there any way to re-create the spam account or have it re-initialized or something?

    Thanks.

Question What can I do next?

I have completed searches in the forums and on the wiki and I cannot find anything that shows how I can fix this problem. Am I just stuck with not having a spam training account or is there something that I can do?

    Thanks.
