    Default [SOLVED] Removing Anti-Spam & Anti-Virus

    Hello!

Before the mail reaches our Zimbra server, we have anti-spam and anti-virus solutions run on our email. So I was wondering what is the proper way of disabling the anti-spam and anti-virus programs on the zimbra server/removing them from the execution loop?

I tried unchecking the Server Services in the admin interface, but that ended up with mail not being delivered. So I was wondering what the proper way to remove the anti-spam and anti-virus?

    Thanks for your time,
    -Nick

Wait, your saying that if you:

    A)Servers section> uncheck anti-virus & anti-spam from the services tab
    OR
    B)Global Settings> uncheck box in as/av tab

Then reboot, your mail delivery fails?

I suppose you could comment out the necessary lines (near the top) in /opt/zimbra/conf/amavisd.conf.in ...

Ahh.. I didn't reboot. Should I do a hard/machine reboot? Or just zimbra?

The error I was getting was that all mail was getting into the umm. deferred queue I think. Which was due to mail trying to be delivered to one of the anti-virus or anti-spam solutions, which was normally running on some port (10024?), but since I stopped the server, there was nothing listening on that port/so the mail was just getting queued up.

So if I restart the box, this will be fixed?

    Thanks for your time!

zmcontrol stop/start should be sufficient (a reboot can't hurt after a zmcontrol stop)

If it shows as running when rebooted (via zmcontrol status) monitor all relavent logs and run:
zmamavisdctl stop (this is where you were probably having errors anyway as 10024 is the interface between the MTA & the as/av)
    zmantispamctl stop
    zmantivirusctl stop
