Is is possible to share GAL's between two separate zimbra systems.
We are an .edu with a staff & student zimbra system (separate systems)
it would be nice to have the ability so search the student GAL for students and vice versa for staff at present both are mixed (on an external openldap) which leads to confusion between similar staff/student names.
Bug 13801 - Add support for multiple GALs per domain
Bug 13012 - groupings for GAL contacts for 'Select Addresses' dialog and or GAL (this too was a school's request to sort students vs teachers etc)
-Then the idea would be to, let people select either: 'search faculty', 'search students' or 'search both'
-And if you had to keep the faculty contact information separate, you would only allow the students to 'search students'
It still won't be sorting like you want, but if your just trying to get rid of your external ldap (I obviously dont' know if you use it for other auth etc) you could on both boxes set GAL mode to 'both' then point the external to the other system...
Ever think about joining your systems into a multi-server setup?
You could then: (besides the easier administration)
-still keep students & teachers on different mailstores
-if their in different domains change the GAL to search at the root level instead of domain level (until 13801/13012 are implemented)
any idea when 13801/13012 will be implemented:confused:

Fastest way for you is to vote & then watch PMWeb for their inclusion
13801 (no votes!)
13012 actually merged into 14531 so put your vote there
