Did you set that password, or did Zimbra? If you did, how?

    Does
    su - zimbra
    zmlocalconfig -s | grep mysql

reveal that zimbra is the password?

Not sure what you mean by VPS...

    Here's what I have in /etc/hosts

    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    192.168.1.14 green.somedomain.com green

    zimbra@green:~$ host localhost
    localhost has address 127.0.0.1

    zimbra@green:~$ host green.somedomain.com
green.somedomain.com has address 67.xx.xx.xx (public IP)

I did change the mysql password, but from reading some of the posts in the forums, the password should be zimbra (at least that's how I understood it).

To change the mysql password I followed this link:
Resetting LDAP & MySQL Passwords - ZimbraWiki

Zimbra sets a random password upon installation.

To make things easy, you can just change the zimbra password to what ever is in zmlocalconfig -s | grep mysql

    It's easier that way.

    Yea-
Just wipe and reinstall. It'll be easier that way.

    ./install.sh -u

    ./install.sh

    Sure.

Well, we hope that's your problem. It really depends on whether or not your changed the mysql password voluntarily.

If you changed it because it wasn't working before, then we're probably running around in circles.
