    Default Zimbra for hosted email

    Hi,

We are looking to change our current hosted email box for something newer and are also looking at replacing the mis-mash of products we use for something more unified.

We provide a handful of pop accuont to 5 or so of our smaller clients who don't have (or want) their own box locally. Currently we also provide them with a plesk style interface to add additional aliases and changes which mailbox gets which email address.

Can we do something similar using Zimbra ? Each client company would need their OWN interface (ie they would only be able to edit mailboxes assigned to them and not be able to see other company mailboxes, let alone edit them).

I'm hoping to get something like Zimbra in place which has one point of contact for support for the various bits.

Alternatively, can anyone recommend a one-shop-solution for something liek this which has the ajax feel of Zimbra ?

    Olly

The Network Edition has delegated administration; the domain admins can only create and maintain accounts, aliases, distribution lists, and calendar resources in a specific domain.
    OR
Build a CLI/Java/Soap interface for management (see some of the portals the current HSP's have designed).

Ahhh right, so the Network Edition sounds the easiest. And a domain admin can ONLY see their domain info, and can't see any other domains on the server ?

Also, that raises another question. If a domain admin can add user accounts at will, how does the per mailbox charging from Zimbra handle this ?

Correct, domain admins only see settings for their own domain.
The full admin can set a max number of accounts a domain is allowed to have.
(You could occasionally grep for the current number of accounts when your doing billing etc, etc.)

Why don't you give the NE trial as spin? -it'll save you from having to ask so many questions /products/download_network.html
