    Wink Tip: E-mail everyone quickly

    Here's a cool little tip that I wrote to quickly notify all your accounts on your server via an e-mail:

    1) Dump all accounts to file:
    Code:
    su - zimbra
    zmprov gaa > /tmp/accounts.txt
    2) Write message and save it as /tmp/message.txt
    3) run:
    Code:
    su - zimbra
    for a in `cat /tmp/accounts.txt`; do echo "Sending Alert to $a"; cat /tmp/message.txt | mail -s "subject line here" $a; done;

    Q. If you are mass mailing a message at a time to all those recipients, wouldn't it be better to somehow send a mailing list type message so then only one message gets sent to every mailbox ? Aren't you sending xxxx number of messages this way ?

    Yes, and yes.
    It would be better to e-mail a list, and you are sending out x number of messages.

    A lot of admins find it a pain to keep an all list updated (I did when I was an admin and filed an enhancement on it).

    This is mostly useful for a quick e-mail out to everyone, regardless of list.

    Good - so to send a message to everyone, can't you send an email to every member of a COS or have a list based on COS ? Then no need to update a "every user" list...

    If this feature is not there, then I'll file an RFE... (honestly I thought it was)

    There's already an RFE somewhere that's been targetted for 5.5

    What about that log on the other post that I asked to look at?
