    Maybe the status can now change to 'confirmed'? ;-)

    Please also have a look at http://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=5824 while you are at it, I think I know now why logrotate makes logging stop. The information is in the bug.

    This is a clean install of Fedora Core 4 and a clean install of Zimbra with both updates and a single host install. I would expect that others have this same problem.

    logger is running.

    logswatch shows up under two processes.

    Default server stats debugging

    rhostager - let's debug the data flow from end to end. Run all commands as zimbra.

    logmysql
    use zimbra_logger;
    select count (*) from raw_logs;
    exit

    grep postfix /var/log/zimbra.log

    Do you see anything like this:
    Feb 6 04:02:42 wolfowitz postfix/smtp[29733]: E0828131087E: to=<admin@wolfowitz.liquidsys.com>, orig_to=<root@wolfowitz.liquidsys.com>, relay=127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1], delay=1, status=sent (250 2.6.0 Ok, id=31740-03, from MTA([127.0.0.1]:10025): 250 Ok: queued as 2458D131087F)

    If so, let's feed that file back into swatch manually:
    /opt/zimbra/bin/logswatch --config-file=/opt/zimbra/conf/logswatchrc --script-dir=/tmp --examine /var/log/zimbra.log

    Any ugly errors?

    After that:
    logmysql
    use zimbra_logger;
    select count (*) from raw_logs;
    exit;

    Different count from the first time?

    Have you put the fix for fully pathed zmprov commands into zmlogprocess (replace "zmprov" with "/opt/zimbra/bin/zmprov")?

    Let me know what you get from this.

    mysql>

    [zimbra@mail01 ~]$ /opt/zimbra/bin/logswatch --config-file=/opt/zimbra/conf/logswatchrc --script-dir=/tmp --examine /var/log/zimbra.log

    *** logswatch version 3.1.1 (pid:24783) started at Mon Feb 6 07:48:32 PST 2006

    | count(*) |
    +----------+

    1 row in set (0.00 sec)

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    No errors. Count increased. The full paths were not in my file so I added them as you suggested.

    I just looked at the /tmp directory and the files it contains. Here is what was in the logprocess.out file:

    DBI connect('database=zimbra_logger;mysql_read_default _file=/opt/zimbra/conf/my.
    logger.cnf;mysql_socket=/opt/zimbra/logger/db/mysql.sock','zimbra',...) failed:
    Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/opt/zimbra/logger/db/mysql.
    sock' (2) at /opt/zimbra/bin/zmlogprocess line 63
    DB: Can't connect to dbi:mysql:database=zimbra_logger;mysql_read_defaul t_file=/o

    t connect to local MySQL server through socket '/opt/zimbra/logger/db/mysql.sock
    ' (2)
    logprocess.out (END)

    I checked the permissions on this file and it seems fine. Any ideas?

    [root@mail01 tmp]# cd /opt/zimbra/logger/db/
    [root@mail01 db]# ls -l

    Default can't connect to db

    The log process script should use the same info as the logmysql script.

    Is the local key zimbra_logger_mysql_password set?

    Default logs?

    Anything in /opt/zimbra/log/logmysqld.log?

    I can't tell, from what you've posted, if it's failing to connect due to permissions, or something else (something wrong with the perl libs, perhaps?)

    Does stoppping/starting the logger db have any effect?
