    Default zmstatuslog already running?

    Hullo folks,

Once in a while (no pattern AFAICT), I get an email from Zimbra's cron daemon with the subject:-
    ---
    Cron <zimbra@servername> /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmstatuslog
    ---
    and text
    ---
/opt/zimbra/libexec/zmstatuslog already running with pid xxxxx (differs)
    ---

Not quite sure where to start looking, so can't really provide any more info than the above. There doesn't seem to be any issues with the server (ZCS 4.5.10) or anything...

    Thoughts?

    Y.

    Hullo,

No thoughts anyone? I realise my original message's rather vague, but to be honest, I'm not sure where to start tracking down the issue.

Obviously, the cron job's trying to run zmstatuslog, even though it's already running. I notice the crontab's set to run zmstatuslog every 2 minutes -what are the implications of running the cron job less frequently (i.e. every 15 mins)?

My concern is that this isn't exactly locating and fixing the issue, but simply working around whatever may be the issue.

    TIA!

you could trying doing a zmcontrol stop and then seeing if there are any zimbra processes still running. Killing them and starting zimbra again may fix your problem

I recently had a chance to do this - I did a service zimbra stop instead.

After making doubly sure there were no Zimbra-related process running (ps aux), I brought back up the server. However, I'm still randomly getting these emails

Like I say, not a big deal, just a bit irksome...

I know this post is very old, but since I just encountered the same "problem", I wanted to mention a possible solution.

I just updated to Version 6.0.12 and after this, I receive this message a couple of times a day.

It turns out that the program runs every minute or two by cron, depending on the version of zimbra i guess. If the system is under high load, the execution time could exceed the time before cron runs the program again. The result is the mail in which cron send you the output of the (second) call of the program.

    There are two solutions:
    1. extend the execution time of cron (crontab -e)
    2. get yourself a faster machine

I hope this helps anyone having the same "problem".

It helps but it doesn't solve.

    I wan't refresh this thread.
Today from 14:30 I'm getting mails in period of 10-20 min from:

Cron <root@poczta> /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmqueuelog (this time problem is with zmqueuelog) with text below:

/opt/zimbra/libexec/zmqueuelog already running with pid XXXX (every time different pid)

I didn't make any changes on my server.
File /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmqueuelog refers to file /opt/zimbra/log/[B]zmqueuelog.pd[B] but I don't have such a file.

    Any ideas? Thanks!
