    Default Relay Access Denied

I've read the wiki and other posts and I'm confused about what gets added to mynetworks. What should I be adding to mynetworks so my external network will work?

I am getting Relay Access Denied errors while using Thunderbird outside our local network to access accounts on my server. I have two domains on my Zimbra server, berrienhospital.com and gahhs.com. Everything on my local network works fine. We have an office outside of our network set up to use the second domain, gahhs.com. They can send emails only to the two domains on the server. When a user sends from outside of our local network, a Relay Access Denied message pops up from Thunderbird and this gets logged in zimbra.log:
    Code:
    Jan 31 11:25:56 mail postfix/smtpd[3342]: connect from adsl-074-247-005-050.sip.aby.bellsouth.net[74.247.5.50]

    An explanation:

Post the mynetwork details I asked for earlier in this thread. Also, what errors are in the logs. Does this problem always occur for that uer, for all users or sporadically form some users?

What if I have users that are roaming and their networks are always changing? Will it be possible for them to use IMAP with Thunderbird or will they have to stick with the Zimbra client?

That's nothing to do with the mynetworks setting, Authenticated users can always relay through your server.

How can I check that the users are being authenticated correctly?

If they get a connection to their Zimbra server then they are Authenticated users.

From our outside office and from home I can read all emails with Thunderbird. I can send email to all internal addresses with Thunderbird. I can not send email to external address unless I'm on my local network. I get an relay error like the one above.

Then I would suggest you haven't set-up the mynetworks correctly.

Now I'm really confused. Did you say that the mynetworks setting has nothing to do with authenticated users? Here is what I get from running postconf mynetworks:

    Code:
    mynetworks = 127.0.0.0/8 192.168.78.0/24

Did you follow the troubleshooting steps in this link above: Outgoing Mail Problems - Zimbra :: Wiki ? Is your Zimbra server on a LAN IP listed in mynetworks? What does the following show (run on the Zimbra server):

    Code:
host `hostname` <-- type as-is with backticks not single quotes
    dig yourdomain.com mx
    dig yourdomain.com any
    post the output.
    Regards
