To get dar installed, I ended up using the version from EPEL, but I had to use the RHEL 5 version as there's no RPM for RHEL 6. Here's what I ended up doing on 64-bit Scientific Linux 6.1 (should work just as well under Centos 6):

    1. Install the EPEL repository
      Code:
      wget http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/x86_64/epel-release-6-5.noarch.rpm
      rpm -i epel-release-6-5.noarch.rpm
    2. Install openssl098e (to satisfy a dependency)
      Code:
      yum install openssl098e
    3. Install dar from EPEL5
      Code:
      wget http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/x86_64/dar-2.3.4-2.el5.x86_64.rpm
      rpm -i dar-2.3.4-2.el5.x86_64.rpm

    If you're using a 32-bit system, change references to x86_64 to i386.

Dunno how I missed that. It is a rather old version, which will probably not matter.

That error above... all was well Monday night. Nothing changed (as far as I know, I didn't change anything!), then POW... a whole directory comes up missing and yes it was truly gone. What log should I look at to verify that I haven't been compromised?

    Thanks in advance

You could check logs, but there likely wouldn't be much of a trail. And you're probably not compromised. Is your /tmp directory set to automatically empty on reboots or via other triggers? Many distros do that. /tmp is just that: temporary, ephemeral data. It is not meant to hold data long term. It is also virtually always on the / filesystem, making filling up / a real possibility. That is a bad thing. I would change your SYNC_DIR to point to somewhere else. Perhaps, create a /Backup/sync directory.

    Default skeleton.sql

When running the per user DB backup i get this

Dumping and processing per-user DBs and exporting per-user LDAP entries...
sed: can't read /backup/sync/db_dumps/mailboxes/skeleton.sql: No such file or directory
sed: can't read /backup/sync/db_dumps/mailboxes/skeleton.sql: No such file or directory

There was a bug in the script. The path to skeleton.sql was hardcoded. I have fixed it. You can download the script again at http://www.zimbra.com/forums/adminis...tml#post186403

Default missing files/folder in dar file

I have been testing out the zmbak.sh script. I believe i am successfully executing the script because I am not seeing any errors. I am executing the script with the -f option directly from the command line and not from a cron job at this point because i am still testing.

After all is finished I look at the contents of the dar file and I notice directories like /store and /mysql and their contents are missing.

When I look at the SYNC_DIR I can see that all files and folders are moved successfully. As I was navigating though the /store directory I noticed I was getting permission denied error. The only way I could move deeper into the folder was to switch to the zimbra user.

I am assuming the backup is not finishing in full because of some type of permission issue or the way I am executing the script.

Any help as to why this is happening is greatly appreciated.

The script should be run as root.
