Default [SOLVED] IM "Not Authorized" errors Read the forums, can't figure this out

    Hi everyone,

I can't quite seem to figure this one out. I can't seem to get my pidgin to connect to the Jabber/XMPP server on Zimbra 5.0.2. The error I'm getting is "not authoized" and in the /opt/zimbra/log/mailboxd.out log file I'm getting:

    Code:
    <stream:stream xmlns:stream="http://etherx.jabber.org/streams" xmlns="jabber:client" to="mail.example.com" version="1.0"></stream:stream>
I was getting that with 5.0.1 and I upgraded to 5.0.2 and the problem persists.

I enabled the IM feature in the Admin panel, restarted Zimbra, no dice.

I enabled the IM features with the zmprov commands that I found in other threads, restarted Zimbra, no dice.

My pidgin settings are as follows:

    Basic:

    Protocol: XMPP
    Screen Name: my_user_name
    Domain: mail.example.com
Resource: Home (just copied my gtalk setting, what do I put here?)
    Password: ****
    Local alias: blahblah

    Advanced:

    UNCHECKED: Require SSL/TLS
UNCHECKED: Force old (port 5223) SSL
CHECKED: Allow plaintext auth over unencrypted streams

    Connect port: 5222
    Connect server:

    ------

I've tried flipping the "Require SSL/TLS" on and off, same with Allow plaintext auth on and off, both results in the same message..

Anyone have any ideas? Or maybe a way get more info out of my mailboxd.out file? The sample above doesn't look very helpful...

As silly as it sounds, thats the error I got in Pidgin when the password was wrong. I had changed my ldap password previously and then opened Pidgin after a long time of not using it and thats the wonderfully descriptive error message. Double check that the jabber id matches the account name exactly and the password. (delete the saved password and type it in)

I have tried my password... I will try again when I get back to the office and let you know for sure.

Any other tips? I really want to know how I can get more debugging info in the log file.

Domain in configuration should be Just the domain and not the FQDN. ie. domain.com and not host.domain.com.

I use require TLS for login to Zimbra and so therefore use it to login to IM.

Excellent! I'm able to connect now. I forgot that the "domain" is actually part of the XMPP username. Using the Advanced Settings, I had to specify my actual zimbra box and that got things moving. TO recap, here are my settings:

    Basic:

    Protocol: XMPP
    Screen Name: my_user_name
Domain: example.com (JUST THE DOMAIN NAME)
Resource: Home (just copied my gtalk setting, what do I put here?)
    Password: ****
    Local alias: (doesn't matter)

    Advanced:

CHECKED: Require SSL/TLS (Checked because I require TLS for Zimbra)
UNCHECKED: Force old (port 5223) SSL
UNCHECKED: Allow plaintext auth over unencrypted streams

    Connect port: 5222
Connect server: mail.example.com (doesn't work without specifying the server)

    ------------

I guess you need to tell it which server is the XMPP server. I'm sure there's a way to do it via DNS SRV/TXT records, but I haven't figured that out.
