    Default installing php4 / rhel4 & zcs NE

    hello everyone,
i am running rhel4 with ZCS 5.0.2 NE. I would like to have php on the system so i can retrieve and grab some information out of the databases. i wanted to know if anyone else has php installed on their system and if it may affect any of zimbra's operations.
below is the output of a dry-run with up2date and php
    thanks for any info
    [root@mail zimbraBackup]# up2date --dry-run php

The main issue will be the installation of HTTPD as it will conflict with the HTTP/HTTPS ports of Zimbra. If you are going to run it on a seperate port then all should be good.

    Default open mysql port

is it possible to accessible the mysql daemon remotely from another server? I would like to connect to the mysql server in order to pull out some information from the mboxgroups. I'd rather not install php on that server if neccessary, so exposing the mysql port seems like a better solution. my entire ZCS server sits behind a firewall so it shouldn't be too much of a security issue.

i'm going to try commenting out "bind-address = localhost" in /opt/zimbra/conf/my.cnf after hours and try connecting to mysql from another server. Anyone know how i can find out the mysql user/pass? I'm going to go check out the wiki

    "zmlocalconfig -s | grep mysql | grep password "
