    Question Installation error

I am attempting to install zimbra from the binary release for FC3 (platform is FC3).

I have tried to install a few times and every time I receive the follwing message...

    Setting services on mail.prociss.com...done
    Setting up SSL...done
    Starting servers...Calling GetServiceInfoRequest (mail.prociss.com)

    RESPONSE: (Zimbra::Mon::serviceInfo)
    host
    ip 64.251.22.85
    name mail.prociss.com
    done
ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: getDirectContext) (cause: javax.naming.AuthenticationException [LDAP: error code 49 - Invalid Credentials])

    Installation complete!

    Operations logged to /tmp/install.log.12566

I can post the contents of the log file if required.

Can anybody point me in the direction of a fix for this problem?

Yes please post your log. Seems you LDAP password is wrong. Best bet would be to install.sh -u Then make sure no zimbra servers are running (ps -ef | grep zimbra). If slapd stays up then the reinstall will not be able to complete.

You sir, are a scholar and a gentleman.

It seems that I still had slapd running. I killed this and did a reinstall and everything is working great now.

Another quick question if I may... is it possible to set a 'default' mailbox on a given account so that the server will accept any email sent to the domain, attempt to find the correct account and if no matching account is found will send the mail to a default account?

    Thanks again.

If foo@mydomain.com is the address that should get all the email, do:

    zmprov ma foo@mydomain.com zimbraMailCatchAllAddress @mydomain.com

Beware though that catchall mailboxes are a nuisance wrt to spammers.

    Thanks once again.

That command seems to work to a point but it only seems to accept the most recent setting. Unless I am doing something wrong, it doesnt seem possible to set a catch all for more than 1 domain. For example... if i set a catchall for @acme.org and one for @acme.com then anything sent to acme.com gets through but acme.org bounces.

Actually I use this as an anti-spam measure. Using different alias at different locations gives me a convinient filtering point. Also I get to learn who is prepared to sell me out . Combined with spamassassin and basic header filters its quite effective.

Well you would need to have two domains and set the catchall for each. Did you define both acme.org and acme.com as domains?

    Default oops

mea culpa. zimbraMailCatchAllAddress being a single-value attribute on an account is my doing. I've filed bug# 4088 for this.

Thanks to Kevin for that. Is it possible yet or is there a plan to enable this kind of setup from the admin console? Just for example, under user aliases couldn't you invoke the zmprov command as above when adding an alias with only the domain specified?

It's not in the admin UI today. If you want it file it in bugzilla and vote for it.

    Default multi valued attribute

    Try:
    zmprov ma spam@domain1.com zimbraMailCatchallAddress @domain1.com zimbraMailCatchallAddress @domain2.com zimbraMailCatchallAddress @domain3.com

    All one line.
