    Default Distribution list address handling

I've noticed with Zimbra (5.0.4) that if I send email to a user, and also a distribution list that contains that same user, then that user will receive two copies of the email. This is somewhat different from the behavior of most email servers. Is this the expected result and is there any way to change it?

Additional note: if you send mail to a user, and also CC mail to that same user, it works as expected, they only get one copy. So I guess it's not broken in general, but just for distribution lists.

Think I already found the solution to this, posted once in the forums here in a message over a year old:

    zmprov modifyConfig zimbraMessageIdDedupeCacheSize 1024

(I made up the 1024 value, seemed reasonable)
    Seems to be working.

Little background if you're curious what that does. When LMTP receives the same message for the same user twice in a short period of time, it drops the second copy - this all takes place in memory. The server will keep that many recipient/Message-ID pairs in a FIFO map, dropping any duplicates it sees. You can disable this by setting zimbraMessageIdDedupeCacheSize to 0 in the global LDAP config. Useful when you're using zmlmtpinject over and over & want it to actually make more copies. Default is 3000.

BTW there's also Preferences > Mail > Messages from me:
    -Place in Inbox
-Place in Inbox if i'm in To: or CC:
    -Ignore Message

Guess I'll set it to 3000 if that's the default. Ours was set to 0 (or non set at all?). I can be 99% sure no one did this intentionally here. Maybe this parameter was added in a newer version (we've been using Zimbra for 2+ years) and it never got set during an upgrade somewhere along the way?
