    Default [SOLVED] zmcontrol status

    hi ..

am not able to start ldap ... getting the following

    -------------------------------------------------------------------
    zimbra@mail:~/bin$ ./zmcontrol status
Unable to determine enabled services from ldap.
Unable to determine enabled services. Cache is out of date or doesn't exist.

    zimbra@mail:~/bin$ ./zmcontrol start
    Host mail.gos-vmware-virtual-appliance.com
Unable to determine enabled services from ldap.
Unable to determine enabled services. Cache is out of date or doesn't exist.

    Am using Ubuntu and zcs-5.0.4_GA_2101.UBUNTU6.20080321150617.tgz

Installation works fine but not with zmcontrol

    Please advise

    Welcome to the forums

Sounds like a DNS issue to me, which is why LDAP is not starting. Please provide the following
    Code:
    cat /etc/hosts
    cat /etc/resolv.conf
    dig gos-vmware-virtual-appliance.com mx
    dig gos-vmware-virtual-appliance.com ns
host `hostname` <- note backticks and not double quotes
is your domain name really gos-vmware-virtual-appliance.com ?

the error messages for zmcontrol are because, I think it is a perl script, and therefore running with sh -x will not execute the perl commands inside.

Have you tried running the command without the ./? eg

    Code:
    zimbra@mail:~$ zmcontrol status

    hi ..

    Thanks for the quick help...

My mistake .. i was using three Capital letters in my hostname field for ldap url i changed that to small ... everything works fine now.

Capital and Small letter won't work together in ldap url naming convention i think .

    What do you say ?

    On *nix stick with lowercase.
