    Default local calendar backup

I'm looking at deploying Zimbra. The most important functionality we would be using is the shared calenders. We are a accounting office, so our scheduling is mission critical. I am trying to figure out some type of automated system to sync/backup the calendars locally so that if the internet line / remote server went down, we would still be able to access our calendar system. I see that the outlook connector doesn't currently support shared calendars. Can anyone suggest the best way to do this? The Zimbra server will not be hosted locally, it will be at a hosting center.

    Thanks,
    Kurt

All the calendar data is available via simple URL's. Our REST interface is explained here:

You do have READ access to your shared calendars with Outlook. So this would cover you in the situation you described.

    Default Security?

Okay, looking at the REST guidelines, and an application such as Mozilla Sunbird, it looks like I can get an automated download of an ICS file to have local calendar control. Here is my question. Is a username/password required in some way to acces the ics file (or any other url data stream). Or by leaving that open, can anyone access the url? So far I am very impressed with Zimbra, great work.

Yes all the REST URL's are protected by HTTP basic auth, using the same user/pass you'll use for Zimbra.

Default Sunbird doesn't seem to like the ICS

    Hi,

I tested the url with my browser, the browser downloaded the file.
No I entered that same url in sunbird (tried both Ical and webdav),
    neither seems to work.

The calendar is added, but no entries show up.

Any errors? What if you save the ics locally and try to import it?
