    Default Unable to send mail externally

    I just finished configuring Zimbra and I have two domains hosted on my internal DNS (domain-1 and domain-2) all using the .LAN TLD (ex. domain-1.lan). I am able to send messages internally but I am unable to send messages to a user externally.

    My setup is such like this, I own the domain domain-2.com and I have my internal DNS setup for domain-2.lan. I have Zimbra fetch messages from the domain-2.com mail server to the local accounts on domain-2.lan. Now I want to be able to send a message from my internal network to the outside (yahoo.com, hotmail, and even domain-2.com)

    When you say you are unable to send external mail, can you explain what happens if you try? Is it that Zimbra errors when you try, or does it look like it worked ok but then you get a message undeliverable email sent back?

    Check the setting for Perform DNS lookups, within the Admin console for each domain, it may be linked to that.

    What is being reported in /var/log/zimbra.log ?

    Are you using your ISP as a SMTP relay ?

    Thanks the replies and the welcome.

    Okay my ISP is blocking port 25, didn't remember to check that before, however I do have an external mail server so I can either use my ISP's mail server or my own. My preference would be to use my own server on the internet but it requires Authentication, not sure how to do that with Zimbra.

    I read a few things about using the MTA to relay mail... can you explain that further with zimbra and authentication.
