Default unable to get zmmailboxdctl running after trying to change the pop3 port

    Hello,

I find myself in a system down situation. I tryed to setup a SSL access onto my server, but because of some acces difficulties i had to revert to the former settings (clear tect login, no SSL, no TLS). Now, even the server was properly configured, it was still listening on to the SSL connection (why, i don't know). After disabling the imap/pop proxy, the listener remained on the port 7110. I tryed to set him on the regular 110, but in doing this opperation, zmmailboxdctl refused to start after a zimbra restart.

What's to be done to get the system back on-line??

    Thank you.

If this is a single server install, without proxy, you can run the following
    Code:
    su - zimbra
    zmprov -l ms server.domain.com zimbraPop3BindPort 110 zimbraPop3SSLBindPort 995 zimbraPop3ProxyBindPort 7110 zimbraPop3SSLProxyBindPort 7995 zimbraImapBindPort 143 zimbraImapSSLBindPort 993 zimbraImapProxyBindPort 7143 zimbraImapSSLProxyBindPort 7993
    zmcontrol stop
    zmcontrol start
this will set it back to the defaults.

still no luck whatsoever. what about re-enabling imap/pop proxy and seting back the defaults ??

How do i re-enable imap/pop proxy from CLI??
I also tryed to do a repair (install the same version and chose upgrade), but the result is the same

The most interesting message was this one, just before the server crash:

com.zimbra.common.service.ServiceException: invalid request: port 110 conflict between zimbraPop3ProxyBindPort and zimbraPop3BindPort on server dce-lam06.pen
    talog.fr
    ExceptionId:btpool0-9:1210584484847:05ab4797ef70bb2b
    Code:service.INVALID_REQUEST
    at com.zimbra.common.service.ServiceException.INVALID _REQUEST(ServiceException.java:260)
    at com.zimbra.cs.account.callback.CheckPortConflict.c heckServer(CheckPortConflict.java:138)

Then i tryed out the sollution you told me...

so nothing else in /var/log/zimbra.log or in /opt/zimbra/log ? what does zmcontrol status show ?

I would also try shutting down ZCS and then ps -fu zimbra to make sure no rogue processes are running. If they are then kill them off, and the start up ZCS again.

    Host dce-lam06.pentalog.fr
    antispam Running
    antivirus Running
    ldap Running
    logger Running
    mailbox Stopped
    zmmailboxdctl is not running
    mta Running
    snmp Running
    spell Running

Has anything else changed with respect to hostnames etc ? Just for peace of mind could you post
    Code:
    cat /etc/hosts
    cat /etc/resolv.conf
    dig _yourdomain_ mx
    dig _yourdomain_ ns
host `hostname` <- note backticks and not double quotes
