    Default restore point questions

One of our users deleted all their emails and I need to restore it but don't want to run the restore if it over-writes current data (ie 1 day later) for all other accounts...

Question 1 then is does restore lose the data and emails entered after the restore point?

Question 2 then is can I just simple put their email back somehow without having to over-write the whole thing?

    Any help greatly appreciated

What version of ZCS are you running ? NE and FOSS are very different from that perspective.

Have a read of NE Backup and Restore Guide

What you could do is restore the single account to a new account. Share the new account Inbox to the user who deleted all their emails, and then they could copy back the necessary emails.

You can restore a single account by specifying -a user@domain.com

Arguments (like which full/intermediate/redologs to restore) can be found in CLI zmrestore Network Edition only - Zimbra :: Wiki

If -ca -pre restored_ is used a new account is created named restored_user@domain.com
You could then grab out the material you want, imapsync, or choose to run the command without the new target/test account.

You could use: CLI zmrestore restoreToTime Network Edition only - Zimbra :: Wiki and also have it restore to a new account.

    zmrestore -s server.domain.com -a user@domain.com -restoreToTime 20080512170331 -lb full-200xxxxxx -ca -pre restored_

Notice how I'm specifying a full on that line, the -restoreToTime option replays redo log sequences until time specified. When using this command, use the -lb argument to specify a full backup that took place prior to the time of the backup you wish to restore.
