Default [SOLVED] Changing domain messes up authentication

Well it's almost time for a 'go live' situation at our company

One of my final areas of testing has been to rename the domain from our test one to the current live one. While Zimbra makes this very easy to do I've found that after doing so I can only login with a full account name i.e. 'thefold@domain' rather than just 'thefold'.

I tested this with both Internal and AD authentication methods and get the same results.

While the authentication still works, I know my users will want to just login using their short name as opposed to a full address.

The reason for your 'problem' is that you're not logging into the default domain and you'll need to set that. Have you also modified other setting from the 'old' domain?

Check what's left in the old domain with:

    Code:
    zmprov gacf | grep test.domain.com
    zmlocalconfig | grep test.domain.com
The spam accounts & default login domain, daily reports etc can be changed with:
    Code:
    zmprov mcf zimbraSpamIsSpamAccount spam@domain.com
    zmprov mcf zimbraSpamIsNotSpamAccount ham@domain.com
    zmprov mcf zimbraDefaultDomain domain.com
    zmlocalconfig -e smtp_destination=admin@domain.com
There is also a new renaim domain option on zmprov:

    Code:
      renameDomain(rd) {domain|id} {newDomain}
-- NOTE: renameDomain can only be used with "zmprov -l/--ldap"
There is, however, still one outstanding bug that doesn't change the Documents name correctly.

Take your pick for the method you want to use, rename if you want to do that or the manual method if you're keeping the old testing domain name.
    Regards

    Thanks for the tips.

I used the zmprov -l olddomain newdomain method which led to the problem I'm having.

I managed to set the spam and ham accounts as they were still showing with the old domain but when trying to change the default domain I received the following message

    Code:
zmprov mcf zimbraDefaultDomain domain.co.uk ERROR: account.INVALID_ATTR_NAME (invalid attr name: [LDAP: error code 17 - zimbraDefaultDomain: attribute type undefined])
If I run zmprov gacf | grep zimbraDefaultDomain I get no results back. I can still login to both the admin console and web ui with the full domain but now the short name (i.e. admin) on the admin console just gives a loading screen.

I've solved this, I did some searching around the forums and found it was in fact the wrong zmprov attribute.

    I was putting

    Code:
    zmprov mcf zimbraDefaultDomain domain.com
    when I should've been putting

    Code:
    zmprov mcf zimbraDefaultDomainName domain.com

    Not a problem

Although I assume that if I can login to the admin UI I could've just changed it from Global Settings??
