    Question [SOLVED] Hidden/inaccessible account?

Back to early versions of 4.x I created a user called nod32@domain.com. This account was to be used for antivirus notifications.

I never paid much attention to it after I verified it was initially working. With that, here I am a handful of versions later and moving from OSS -> NE.

As I was doing some AV maintenance today I discovered that the nod32 user is no longer in my accounts list. I began to wonder if I just made it an alias, the aliases list does not have it listed either. Nor is it in distribution lists or resources.

I tried to recreate it and I get the attached error message stating that it exists.

I sent an email to nod32@domain.com and did not get a delivery failure, nothing is in any of Zimbra's mail queues, where did it go?

Any thoughts on where this account may be hiding or how I may rectify this problem?

P.S. I only have a small handful of users, I went into each one manually and to the aliases tab to verify that no accounts have it aliased there.

You might check the Zimbra LDAP to see if it's listed in there. I just did a query on the whole tree, and grepped for a username.

    ldapsearch -x -h <mailserver> | grep <name>

The search returned the working address.

    Code:
    zimbra@zimbra:~$ ldapsearch -x -h zimbra.domain.com | grep nod
    # nod32, people, domain.com
    dn: uid=nod32,ou=people,dc=domain,dc=com
    mail: nod32@domain.com
    uid: nod32
    sn: nod32
    cn: nod32
    displayName: nod32
    zimbraMailDeliveryAddress: nod32@domain.com
I received an email notification today from the nod32@domain.com address. However, going back into the Admin interface -> Accounts still does not show the account available. I double-checked for sanity sake

I'm also able to log into the web client as nod32@domain.com properly.

So the account is there, and working. But the admin GUI does not show it listed for editing/management.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

Perhaps deleting the account from the command line and recreating it? Or would you recommend against that? I plan to check the wiki a bit later today for proper command line syntax to accomplish such a task.

    Thumbs up

FYI, I had some spare time over the holiday to dig into this a little more.

I'm still not sure what caused the problem but it has been corrected.

I removed the nod32 account via 'zmprov da' and then re-created with the admin GUI. The admin GUI now displays the account to manage as expected.
