Question Mail not being delivered after restore to new server

    Hi guys,

I've built a new Zimbra server and migrated the users across by way of mailbox restores - everything looks like it is fine, but when trying to send mail it looks like it is getting a bit confused.

The new zimbra server is called zimbra.oxynet.co.nz, wheras the old one was called megatron.oxygenit.local (part of the reason for the migration was to fix up stuff like that). I've updated all MX records to point to the new server, and everything looks like it should be working. Only problem is now when we try to send mail to this server, we get NDRs like the following:

    Code:
    Reporting-MTA: dns; zimbra.oxynet.co.nz
    X-Postfix-Queue-ID: 2B9F9304C3C5
    X-Postfix-Sender: rfc822; ***email@domain***
    Arrival-Date: Fri, 11 Jul 2008 15:47:06 +1200 (NZST)

    Final-Recipient: rfc822; ****email@domain****
    Original-Recipient: rfc822;****email@domain****
    Action: failed
    Status: 5.4.4
Diagnostic-Code: X-Postfix; Host or domain name not found. Name service error
for name=megatron.oxygenit.local type=A: Host not found
    (email addresses have been scrubbed)

For some reason it looks like the new server is trying to forward on to the old server! I can't find any reason why it would want to do this.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

Could we get the /var/log/zimbra.log & /opt/zimbra/log/mailbox.log output?

WAG: zmprov ga user@domain.com | grep Transport

My /var/log/zimbra.log is really really long, and tail doesn't show much info, but grepping it for "megatron" shows lines similar to this a lot:

    Code:
    Jul 11 16:57:00 zimbra postfix/lmtp[24734]: DC26F30C0EEF: to=<***email@domain****>, relay=none, delay=0.05, delays=0.05/0/0/0, dsn=5.4.4, status=bnced (Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=megatron.oxygit.local type=A: Host not found)
/opt/zimbra/log/mailbox.log is equally long, mostly with INFO about MailboxPurges and logins. No mention of megatron in this one though. It's full of our clients email addresses so if you want the full copies of both I can send them in private message to you...

    Code:
    zimbra@zimbra:/home/oxygen$ zmprov ga ***email@domain*** | grep Transport
    zimbraMailTransport: lmtp:megatron.oxygenit.local:7025
That seems like our problem! Now, how do I fix this for every account? I haven't really delved into the inner workings of zimbra like this sorry

Ok, I've figured out how to change it.

I wrote a small bash script to do the lot at once:

    Code:
    #!/bin/bash

for account in $(zmprov gaa); do
            echo "Processing $account..."
            zmprov ma $account zimbraMailTransport lmtp:zimbra.oxynet.co.nz:7025
    done
    Worked a treat.

Sorry! I thought it was all fixed, but mail is still not getting delivered - it is just sitting in the queue.

I tail -f'd /var/log/zimbra.log while I sent a message and came across these lines that interested me:

    Code:
Jul 15 16:47:29 zimbra postfix/lmtp[28796]: connect to zimbra.oxynet.co.nz[203.97.95.250]: Connection timed out (port 7025)
    Jul 15 16:47:29 zimbra postfix/lmtp[28796]: C2CA6311B2A0: to=<glen.davies@zmtest.oxynet.co.nz>, relay=none, delay=189, delays=0.04/0.02/189/0, dsn=4.4.1, status=deferred (connect to zimbra.oxynet.co.nz[203.97.95.250]: Connection timed out
I can connect to zimbra.oxynet.co.nz[203.97.95.250] on port 7025 and get a response, so I don't know what the problem is... help?

The final problem turned out to be because the server was behind a NAT. Make sure you can get to your server's public IP from your server on the LMTP port.
