We are having a problem with our vacation messages. All our Zimbra users are in a separate domain (zimbra.ourdomain.edu), though they all have forwarding addreses (such that mail sent to email@example.com is forwarded to firstname.lastname@example.org.
When a user sets their out of office message, it seems to only generate a message if the user is e-mailed directly (email@example.com) and not if they e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
The message is being forwarded correctly, Zimbra is just not sending the out of office reply if the message has been forwarded.
Is there any way to fix this (either to change how Zimbra is responding to out of office messages) or to change the way I'm redirecting mail from our primary (non-zimbra) mail server?
