    Default Briefcase webdav access

    Hi

    I have read all the bits I can see on the wiki and forum relating to access to a briefcase via a webdav connection but I dont seem to get far with connecting.

    Using Ubuntu and webdav is usually easy enough (checked that I can access 2003 webdav shares ok) but I get nowhere with briefcases at the moment. Normally the returned error is http error: not found or cant display location.

    I have tried with dav://server/dav/username, http://server/service/dav/username https://, davs:// etc etc all the same sort of errors even after requesting the user/password. Anyone had similar problems with linux? There doesnt appear to be much mention of using SSL on webdav but not doing so would seem daft these days of increased security awareness.

    The briefcases appear in the web client and offline desktop so I know something of the feature is working, but a connection of webdav would be great for using local applications.

    Thanks for any pointers!

    Using Finder on Mac, I connect using:

    https://<mailboxserver>/dav/<email>

    Then I get prompted for username/password. I put in my full email address and password.

    tested today after upgrading to 5.0.8 CE with ubuntu 8.04, xp sp3 and macosx leopard 10.5.4.

    ubuntu:
    GoTo -> Place -> "davs://<host>/dav/<user>"

    xp:
    add network ressource -> "https://<host>/dav/<user>"

    mac:
    goto -> connect with server -> "https://<host>/dav/<user>"

    creating folders will work except ubuntu will throw an error after naming them thou the naming will succeed.
    copying files to the webshare will work except ubuntu and xp will tell u that the file exists already but the "upload" will succeed.
    copying files from the share will work.
    opening files on the share with an application didnt work at all.

    Thanks for the info tja. Now at least I can feel assured it is not a generic failure but one with my particular setup.

    I have tried the Places - Connect To Server - WebDAV http but entering davs://server/dav/user just reports name not resolved as it is looking for dav://davs:// and without the davs:// it still reports it cant find user%40domain@server/dav and any of the related rejigging of the url that is possible seems to produce similar errors.

    Wonder if there is anything to enable on the Zimbra server that I havent got enabled already? The default cos and the user have it enabled. There is a commercial cert on the server and it works within the webclient, just seems odd that something relatively straight forward doesnt work for me.

    I haven't had problems connecting to webdavs before with ubuntu, https works fine as does briefcase with the client, so I feel its most likely to be zimbra problem. I'll do some log trawling and see what I find.

    Cant find anything in the logs, looked in zimbra.log, zmmailboxd.out etc but there's either nothing there or nothing relating to activities in the same time frames. Are there any other logs relating to briefcase anywhere?

    hmm im sorry, i cant remember doing something special on the boxes we tested.

    ubuntu is a straight 8.04 with all updates, its my development machine so there maybe some additional stuff installed but i dont remember anything special or out of repository stuff (except some eclipse variants which surely play no part here).
    xp was a standard install (we had to regedit UseBasicAuth=1 in), on a second heavy developer notebook we additionally had to reinstall webfldrs.msi (as described in the wiki).
    mac worked out of the box.

    hmm ....
