    Default [SOLVED] VirtualHost setup

I'm trying to setup VirtualHosting in order to host multiple domains on a single Zimbra server. Zimbra docs indicate that this is possible, and moreover, if a 'Virtualhost' is indicated for a given domain, users can login by entering only the 'user' portion of their email address.

On zcs.server.com, a domain 'domain.com' is created. Virtual Host for the domain is 'domain.com'. When user 'user@domain.com' connects to http://mail.domain.com, he only needs to enter 'user' in the login field.

Unfortunately, this only works when 'domain.com' is setup to be the 'default domain' fo the zimbra installation. And then it doesn't work for domain2.com, of course.

Note that I'm not trying to use SSL here. I'm aware of the problems inherent of doing named-based virtual hosting under SSL. However, here we are only considering http access on port 80.

Is there some other configuration to set up? Should the zimbra/conf/httpd.conf config file also be modified, for example to enable NamedBasedVirtualHosting ? Should a <VirtualHost> directive be established for each domain ? In that case, what document root should be used ?

If you want to login via 'mail.domain.com' you need to set 'mail.domain.com' not only 'domain.com' as virtual host in this domain.

Thanks, but that doesn't solve the problem. I have no problem logging in to mail.domain.com provided I enter user@domain.com. However, the problem is allowing the user to login by just typing 'user' (without the @domain.com suffix) into the login screen.

As per your suggestion, I have setup domain.com with the following 2 virtual hosts: domain.com and mail.domain.com. Needless to say, the DNS is properly set up so that both these hosts point to the zimbra server. (actually, domain.com is set up as a HOST record, and mail.domain.com as CNAME record).

    But the problem remains.

After upgrading from OS Edition 5.07 to 5.0.9 the feature is now working. Possibly this was a bug in 5.0.7 ? Anyway, I mark this issue as resolved.
