    Default [SOLVED] Auto Delete

    All,
One of our clients is reporting mail is disappearing from there mailboxes if they don't check there e-mail.
I know there is a feature to delete out users deleted and junk folders, are there any settings to adjust this?

We are running the open source version of Zimbra.

When you say "clients" are you meaning 1 user, or multiple users?

There's an option to automatically delete email older than X days (configurable) or at Spam / Trash mailboxes.

You should check those settings for this particular user.

Default Where is the option located?

Where is the setting for this located? In the admin or in the users e-mail panel?

It is located under the class of service -
$ zmprov gc default | grep -i lifetime
    zimbraAdminAuthTokenLifetime: 12h
    zimbraAuthTokenLifetime: 2d
    zimbraMailMessageLifetime: 100d
    zimbraMailSpamLifetime: 30d
    zimbraMailTrashLifetime: 30d
    zimbraPasswordLockoutFailureLifetime: 1h
    zimbraPrefInboxReadLifetime: 0
    zimbraPrefInboxUnreadLifetime: 0
    zimbraPrefJunkLifetime: 0
    zimbraPrefSentLifetime: 0
    zimbraPrefTrashLifetime: 0

You can find the options under the Class of Service you are using, on the Advanced tab, near the bottom under the heading Email Retention Policy.

E-mail message lifetime if set to anything other than 0 will result in the messages being deleted after it is "aged" beyond the number of days listed.

The other two: Trashed messsage lifetime and Spam message lifetime are for deleted items and items sent to the Junk folder respectively.

I believe the Trashed and Junk message lifetime is based on the time spent in the Trash or Junk, not the age of the message, but I can't remember. If you remove the message and put it back in, the timer is reset (maybe?).

As for CLASS OF SERVICE, you can also set these options on the user directly, which take priority over the COS.

Admins can set these attributes on COS or individual user-
The one's currently exposed in the admin console gui > cos/user > advanced tab:
zimbraMailMessageLifetime (default is 0 disabled - careful with this one as it affects mail in any folder)
    zimbraMailSpamLifetime (default is 30d)
    zimbraMailTrashLifetime (default is 30d)

These as well, though currently not exposed in the user's UI:
    zimbraPrefInboxReadLifetime
    zimbraPrefInboxUnreadLifetime
    zimbraPrefSentLifetime
    zimbraPrefJunkLifetime
    zimbraPrefTrashLifetime

The actual removal in 5.0.x is controlled by a thread: Mailbox Purge - Zimbra :: Wiki
zimbraMailPurgeSleepInterval is defaulted to 1m which can purge ~1440 accounts per day.
