Default Users Trash Emails dissapeared after reindex

A user was having problems viewing a shared address book. So I erased his share and re shared it. This seemed to fix that problem. Then I re indexed his mail box thinking it might of been a indexing problem that caused it. After that completed almost all of his trash emails have been erased. He happened to keep his old emails in there (I know it is called TRASH for a reason). But his trash is set never to delete and after looking at the logs I am getting a lot of this error

    2008-09-10 09:39:20,833 INFO [btpool0-504] [;mid=16;ip=;ua=ZimbraWebClient - FF3.0 (Win)/5.0.8_GA_2462.RHEL4;] soap - (batch) GetFolderRequest

I do not believe that the reindex should of deleted this users email is there any way to get it back and why was it deleted? Does this error have any thing to do with the users email disappearing?

    ServiceException: permission denied:
this bit looks a concern. It is possible the directory on the server has the incorrect permissions. You could run the following to be sure
    su - zimbra
    zmcontrol stop
    exit (back to root)
    chown -R zimbra:zimbra /opt/zimbra/store
    su - zimbra
    zmcontrol start
this will reset all your permissions.
