    Question [SOLVED] SASL LOGIN authentication failed: authentication failure

    We are using a new web application that has hard coded the use of TLS for sending email notifications. Every email it sends fails with:

    warning: unknown[192.168.1.17]: SASL LOGIN authentication failed: authentication failure

    I assume I need to tell Zimbra to allow this host but I thought I already did this by allowing 192.168.1.0/24 under "MTA Trusted Networks".

    What am I missing?

    Default More info...

    Based on another thread, here are the contents of my saslauthd.conf file:

    zimbra_url: https://host:7071/service/admin/soap/
    zimbra_cert_file: /opt/zimbra/conf/smtpd.crt
    zimbra_cert_check: off

    I'm guessing the zimbra_url value isn't correct. That URL doesn't resolve. If I put "https://host:7071/service/soap in my browser it resolves but the XML blob looks bad:

    <soap:Envelope>
    <soap:Body>
    <soap:Fault>
    <soap:Code>
    <soap:Value>soap:Receiver</soap:Value>
    </soap:Code>
    <soap:Reason>
    <soap:Text>system failure: Request not allowed on port 7071</soap:Text>
    </soap:Reason>
    <soapetail>
    <Error>
    <Code>service.FAILURE</Code>
    <Trace>btpool0-208:1221777629139:06940aec4e6a12ad</Trace>
    </Error>
    </soapetail>
    </soap:Fault>
    </soap:Body>
    </soap:Envelope>

    Hope that helps!

    Default

    I'm not sure what the deal was but I simply hard coded the zimbra_url in the saslauthd.conf.in file and now things are working!?
