    Default Zimbra IM

    Hey everyone,

I am having a problem with a couple of accounts where their IM buddies no longer show up. I'm not sure how to determine if this is a presentation issue or if the buddies are actually gone. Any ideas?

Also, is there a way to use Pidgn to access ZM IM?

    Thanks.

    Yes, it works very well.

Just create a new account in Pidgin, setup as XMPP.
Server has to be configured as the ZCS server, account as the email adress.

Did you change the name of the user after their buddy list was setup? If so all contacts would have been lost see: Bug 27877 - Renaming account breaks Instant Messenger IM

As for Pidgin settings here is an exact example:

    Email address is : user@domain.tld
    server accessible by: email.domain.tld

    Pidgin account setup:
    Basic tab:
    Protocol: XMPP
    Username: user
    Domain: domain.tld
Resource: whatever you want. Only one resource name can be connected at the same time.
Local Alias: useful to set to what your name appears as to other people since without it your name in chats will appear as user@domain.tld

    Advanced Tab:
    Connect server: email.domain.tld
If you want the connection to be encrypted the check require SSL/TLS

So using GAIM I found the buddy list is not actually gone, it is in fact a presentation issue in Zimbra. When I have some time I will trawl Bugzilla to see if it is know issue. Its possible it has been fixed in releases after what I am on.
