    Default May I delete /opt/zimbra/redolog/archive/*

/opt/zimbra/redolog/archive/ contains 9 files using 830 MB. Can I delete the archived log files without killing ZCS?

Now it wastes about 1 GB.

I badly need an answer. Can I delete the archived redolog files?

you should be able to safely remove them all, if I recall correctly. The only one that is needed is /opt/zimbra/redolog/redo.log, which will be used by the server to recover from an improper shutdown.

I thought we had enabled rotation of the archived logs. We'll check on that and someone should post back.

    thanks!

The fact that the system doesn't delete the archived logs is a bug. It'll be fixed in a future build.

Hi, for now you can get around this by disabling redo logging altogether. From shell run this command as zimbra user:

    zmprov mcf zimbraRedoLogEnabled FALSE

    and then restart ZCS:

    zmcontrol shutdown
    zmcontrol startup

We are running Release 6.0.7_GA_2473.RHEL5_64_20100616202447 RHEL5_64 NETWORK edition.

Have a redolog/archive/ that's about 98GB. (It would probably be much bigger if our sysadmin didn't manually purge it already.)

Which future build is supposed to have this fixed?

The thread in which you've posted is over six years old and you can be sure that bug(s) relating to redolog archiving were fixed a long time ago. You can take a look in bugzilla and search for the woirds 'archive' & 'redolog' to see which the were affecting redologs. Obviously I don't know your current configuration and the only (possible) bug I can see that may affect you is this: Bug 36504 – Document that redolog and redolog archive need to be on same volume FWIW, I don't see this behaviour on my current ZCS 7.1.3 server.
