Default vmware for DR or direct for speed ?

    Hello there

I wanted to know if ZCS Network Edition works well on vmware GSX (server now).
I am thinking of having the zimbra server(s) installed on a vmware machines, so that I can do a backup of the machines themselfs for faster recovery ?

anybody has any suggestions about it or preformance concerns ? aparently for alot of users we need a server with a lot of drives for I/0 performance, but would zimbra be affected with that ?

    Cheers.

Mail servers are heavy users of IO, CPU, and MEM. VM's will degrade the machines IO, CPU, and MEM. So the short answer is that any mail server you run on a VM will be slower. By how much is hard to say. If you've got a newer beefy machine and you don't expect to be fully loaded resource wise then a VM may be ok.

Yes. Both Zimbra Editions will take advantage of multiple CPU's.
