Question Creating users with domain different from hostname

I have been wading through the admin manual and the answer to this questions is not clear... so please pardon my newbee lameness...

Created a mail server whose hostname is:

Using the web client, all users are created as

That is not what we want. What we want is the users created as

Do we have to create a different domain to do this? What is the procedure here?

I am totally lost. Any / all help appreciated.

Yep, the default behavior is to use FQDN of the server. (It attempts to verify an MX record pointing at the IP for which that FQDN resolves, if it doesn't find an MX it prompts to change the domain name.)

Just create a new domain using the admin console or:
    su - zimbra
    zmprov cd

You can move them by the dropdown field for domain in the UI or:
    zmprov ra
