Default Zimbra as a backup MX

    Hello frends.

I am new to zimbra open source. I have Fedora core 7 and working zimbra Open Source mail server on it. Now sometime my server goes down by different reason,

so i thought i install fedora core 7 on another system and install Zimbra open source as a live mirroring of backup mx. What is possible for my scenario?

I searched via google. i thought backup mx is possible for some time. So can u give me detail of how to configure backup mx for my server and how much time backup mx holds mails?

please help me, your help is really appreciated by me.

    Advanced Thank you.,

Why would you need to install Zimbra ? You could always just setup a store and forward MTA as your secondary MX.

The most simple solution for a backup server would be to use a DNS hosting service that provides a backup MX server. There are many on the web (usually there's a cost associated with it), have a look at DNS Hosting, domain name management and registration, dynamic DNS, secondary DNS and managed nameservers by easyDNS - if your server goes down theey will queue the mail for up to 5 days then deliver it when your server is back on-line. Don't forget that using a backup MX is an invitation for spammers to send you tons of junk, it's not a good idea. There are, of course, many other services on the we that provide a backup MX I'm just a happy user of EasyDNS.
