Default [SOLVED] Backup - Best practice (s3?)

    Hi!

We are about to switch from MS Outlook to Zimbra Network Ed. v5.11 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server 32bit.

But, before I start moving accounts I want to be sure we have a good online backup system like s3. I must be able to backup and restore accounts!

NE comes with inbuilt backup system that performs both full and incremental. Individual mailboxes can also be recovered. Have a read through the Backup and Restore documentation.

Thank you for the reply! I will read this info.

Is it a good idea to use Synopsis to transfer these backups to a Amazon s3 storage, for the main backup?

How do I set NE to only take full backups?

Offsite backups will be dependent on your own internall policy. Whether writing the backups to tape, or using a online/offsite storage facility will be down to you. With respect to running full backups all the time I believe that this can be set from within the Admin GUI under backups.

Thank you again! I can't find any place for kontrolling backups in the GUI. My only option seems to take backup now, and choose full.

Is Synopsis the best way for transferring backups to remote locations?

As long as the transport mechanism is secure then any should do really. When looking at any sort of offsite storage check things like availability, recovery, retention, data ownership, security, local laws etc.
