i had assumed that the fixperms had done its job. i ran the installer

i noticed that durning the installation i got

Setting up CA...sh: openssl: not found

    i have now installed openssl

i got Configuration complete - press return to exit

    when starting zimbra i got

    zimbra@email:~$ zmcontrol start
    Host email.wernethschool.com
    Starting logger...Done.
    Starting mailbox...Done.
    Starting antispam...Done.
    Starting snmp...Done.
    Starting spell...Done.
    Starting mta...FAILED
    Starting zmmtaconfig...zmmtaconfig is already running.
postsuper: fatal: scan_dir_push: open directory defer: Permission denied
    postfix failed to start
    Starting saslauthd...saslauthd[18231] :detach_tty : Cannot start saslauthd
saslauthd[18231] :detach_tty : Another instance of saslauthd is currently running
    failed.
    zmsaslauthdctl failed to start

    Starting stats...Done.
    zimbra@email:~$

Sounds like the previous install is still running due to the openssl error. I would stop ZCS and check for any old zimbra processes running. Run the dummy install again, clean it up, copy across /opt/zimbra again, and then run the zmfixperms.

Check /tmp for the install and setup logs ... see why it failed to install the package. If you are starting over you may have to remove them first.
