Default How to migrate old zimbra messages to new zimbra install?

I've had issues upgrading from zimbra 3.0_GA156 to 3.1_GA332. Therefore, I stopped zimbra, moved /opt/zimbra to /opt/zimbra.bak, ran `rpm -e` on all zimbra rpms, and then installed 3.1. When I did a new install of 3.1 it works correctly.

Now that I have version 3.1 running, how can I migrate my /opt/zimbra.bak data to my new zimbra install? I only have 1 user (myself) that is on this mail server. I don't care about any searches or tags that I setup. I just want to move my folders and the messages within them over to my new install.

Why didn't you just stop all the zimbra services, make a copy of /opt/zimbra and do an in-place upgrade? I would have though that would be the easiest thing to do. Anyway, recovering the data has been covered a few times in the forums just have a quick search.

I've searched a bit already, but I'll try again. I would have loved to do an in-place upgrade, but it would never work. There seems to be a bug in the upgrade:

In any case, I'll continue to search through the forums. But whenever I search for things like "migration" it references and upgrade.

I should also mention that at this point, I can't get zimbra 3.0 to start anymore. So all that I 'm trying to do is to copy messages for one user over to my new 3.1 installation (currently it is running).

Use the zmlmtpinject command on the files in /opt/zimbra/store/* I'm not sure if times will be messed up though. But it will get the messages back into your mail box.

zmlmtpinject worked for me. I had to `cd /opt/zimbra.bak/store/` and then cd to 0/msg/0, remove all the non RFC 822 stuff, since zmlmtpinject didn't filter it automatically. But that worked. Thanks.

So what syntax did you use for zmlmtpinject?

you don't have to remove the all the header info stuff just:
    zmlmtpinject blah@blah.com < emailFile.
