Default [SOLVED] Generic Test Failure on creating a external POP account

I am using the Web Interface and ZCS 5.0 and I am getting "Error: Generic Test Failure" when I try to create an external POP account.

I'm trying to connect to mail.comcast.net.

I have several accounts and I think I've tried every combination of:
Username of Account: username and username@comcast.net (I believe it just supposed to be the just the username but I tried it anyway)
    not encrypted and encrypted.

I still get the same message.

How can I get more information other then: "Error: Generic Test Failure" to find out what is failing and why?

Hi, and welcome to Zimbra forums!

Do you use firewall for your installation? On command line, can you telnet againt the remote server on pop port?

    Yes I do and no I can't.

I use IPCop for a firewall.
I have the Server in the DMZ(orange zone). The desktop is in the green zone.
I can telnet to both mail.comcast.net 110 and mail.comcast.net 995 from my desktop but can not telnet to either from the server.

I followed the directions and I do have port forwarding on for http, ssh, smtp, pop3, imap, ldap, https, imaps and pop3s and 7025.

Did I miss something in the instructions?

If you cannot even telnet to the remote servers then I would recommend checking the FW rules and the log files on your IPCop.

As said here, I am afraid it's your firewall that is the problem. Talk with your vendor to get help with this. When telnet from server to external server works, you can try in WebGUI.

    Yes it was the firewall.

For anyone else who runs into this problem:

I have IPCop with CopFilter installed. CopFilter P3Scan was re-directing POP to a different port.

I turned off the P3Scan on the orange zone and it works.

Next step will be to go back and turn it back on and adjust the ports in Zimbra but that is for another day as Zimbra does have spam filtering built in.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
