    Default Send mail via ISP SMTP

    I've been testing Zimbra via the pre-built VMWare install, and like what I see very much.

    One thing I need to be able to do is deliver mail via an ISP-provided SMTP server. This server requires authentication.

    I see under the admin GUI -->Global settings -->MTA where I can enter a Relay MTA for external deliver, but how do I enter username/password credentials for authentication?

    Perfect...but it took almost 2 minutes for a response...you guys sleeping?

    Seriously..great looking product, and apparently well documented and well supported.

    Keep up the great work. I may just have to migrate to Zimbra soon.

    Default Still working on it

    Zimbra is installed and running nicely. On an open internet connection, I can send and receive mail fine.

    I've followed the instructions above, and have also played with:

    smtp_sasl_auth_enable = yes
    smtp_sasl_security_options =

    When I send a message, I get the following error:

    <destination.address@destinationdomain.com>: host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx said: 530
    authentication required

    Anyone have any ideas? I'm about ready to hang it up and stick with the no-calendar-having crapmail system I currently have.

    So you can connect to the ISP SMTP relay without AUTH but you want to use AUTH for Zimbra? Not sure what you are asking for now. Also you'll need to make sure if your not on your local network when trying to send though Zimbra your mail client has to use SMTP Auth.

    No, my ISP requires AUTH.

    I tested on an open internet connection via a different ISP to make sure all else was working with Zimbra. It is...with the exception of SMTP authentication with the ISP.
