    Default Mail delivery Problem

I'm trying to configure my server (zimbra.example.com) that will be accessed using the alias "mail.example.com" and am having trouble getting outgoing mail delivered. This has to be easy, but I'm getting confused (maybe it's late).

I need to have all mail sent go through my ISP's mail server (mail.isp.com). I have listed that address in the "Web mail MTA hostname" and "Relay MTA for external delivery:" options. However, sent mail from the web ui ends up in the deferred queue showing an error of "connect to zimbra.example.com: connection refused"

Can anyone shed some light here? I'm also not sure why it is connecting to zimbra.example.com and not mail.example.com. However, it's more important that mail get forwarded to the 'mail.isp.com' address.

    Thanks!

    Running a firewall?

Postfix can't connect to Zimbra to deliver the mail over LMTP. port 7025

    Apr 27 13:33:29 localhost postfix/lmtp[4995]: CF1258C4478: to=<user@example.com>, relay=none, delay=0, status=deferred (connect to mailhost.example.com[72.151.26.3]: Connection refused)

Login to the zimbra host. Try this:

    telnet 72.151.26.3 7025

Well, kinda. That ipaddress is an external address that is not internally addressable. Why isn't it pulling the internal address from the hosts file? Is that what this DNS checkbox is for?

For RFC/Security reasons Postfix will use DNS. So if a DNS lookup on your host gives the external IP then you'll either need to allow it or implement split DNS to allow for an internal DNS lookup.
