Zimbra new server setup
I am a new bee, I have a plan in my office to implement Zimbra, The Structure of the plan is given below.
1. We already having the mail server hosted outside, currently we are making use of the same to send and receive the mails.
Now the Plan is, we are going to deploy the zimbra (FOSS) in different locations of our company, The Zimbra will be working as Local LAN Server so that it can successfully send and receive the mail via the mail server hosted outside.
I have a problem like, the hosted mail server party doesn't give us the option to relay.
I welcome if any one , gives me the solution in this respect..
Thanks in advance
If it is already asked in forum, I am unable to search it out,
so I welcome anyone to give me the feasible solution.
Welcome to the forums :)
Do you mean outbound or inbound for the relay ? If outbound then use a third party service like DynDNS :: Outbound Relay.
Thanks , mine is outbound relay, But le me know whether all mails send and receive via LAN Server is also stored in hosted mail server.
Outbound emails will not be stored on the hosted server. With respect to inbound will they be forwarded to your server or will you have to POP them off the server ?
I try to get it via pop , i will work accordingly and if i have any difficulties , sure will ping you.
I say my exact scenario.
1. We already have mail server mail.mydomain.com (Hosted outside)
2. All of our branch members they used to send/receive mail via hosted mail server.
3. Now the Plan is we are going to migarate to zimbra(FOSS) at present,
As an Intial Setup we are going to deploy in one of the brach
4. Since the mail communiation is essential part to our businees,so please tell me your thoughts and suggesstions and the solution I can achieve.
Well, you could use fetchmail to pull down the email to your server, or as you are only migrating one branch (and a few users) then you could setup external accounts on each of your Zimbra users to fetch just their mailboxes. Sent email will be stored on your ZCS server for those users.
Now I have another doubt, In LAN Mail Server whether I can use the same domain say:mydomain.com
Yes you can, but as your server will more than likely be on a private IP range you will need to setup a Wiki :: Split DNS architecture so that the MX record is correct.
Yes I have Configured Split DNS and mapped the records associated with it, now what i can do next, .
And Now i checked with the command dig and nslookup it sound good
But When i send mail to internal Lan users it delivers, where as mail to outside domain is not delivered.
pls pass your suggesstions
Best way if you do not have a static IP with a valid RDNS entry it to use your ISPs mail server as a relay. Within the Admin GUI disable DNS lookups and add your ISPs SMTP server to the relay field.
