    Default [SOLVED] Disabling AV/AS ?

    Well, I know this has come up a few times so thought I would ask again

    I wish to switch off AV/AS in ZCS and have un-checked the server settings as required. Once zmamavisdctl was restarted I see that it has modified the following settings
    Code:
     @bypass_virus_checks_maps = (1);  # uncomment to DISABLE anti-virus code
     @bypass_spam_checks_maps  = (1);  # uncomment to DISABLE anti-spam code
    which is great; but the problem is that Amavis still takes up valuable system resources. I would have expected that the line in /opt/zimbra/postfix/conf/main.cf
    Code:
    content_filter = smtp-amavis:[127.0.0.1]:10024
    would have been removed instead

    There are 3 services that control whether the content_filter routes through amavis. All three of antispam, antivirus and archiving must be disabled (not listed in zimbraServiceEnabled) for content_filter to be set to null.

    If all three are disabled, you can force an update of amavis via
    Code:
    libexec/zmmtaconfig amavis

    Hi Brian,

    Thanks for the update ... if you disable all three then does that mean ZAD (Zimbra Archive and Discovery) will no longer work

    Thx.

    The ZAD feature uses the amavis quarantine feature to perform archiving, so yes amavis is required for ZAD to function.
