Default Skype Firefox Extension on Windows Conflict

A user called us today to report that entries in her address book had become "mangled".

After disabling the Skype Firefox extension (platform = WinXP) the Zimbra web client performed normally, but the mangled address book entries remained.

We should be onsite with this user later this week; in preparation for that visit has anyone else seen similar issues?

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Default Hi!

I just recently installed Skype on Firefox version 3.5 and had a problem with:

    1.) The Zimbra server crashing.
    2.) The inbox not loading.
3.) Items being dragged when clicked on rather than opening. I was unable to open mail.

I turned off the Zimbra Skype plugin and things went back to normal.

I did not have address book munged, nor any other problem with the address book.

We're starting to get lots of complaints too now that faculty and students are coming back. Users are saying all their folders in the left pane disappear.

It's a Skype problem not a Zimbra problem.....but just FYI.

Same thing here in ZCS Version 5.0.15_GA_2851.UBUNTU8.NETWORK - the left hand pane icons disappear and only the 'New Folder' is available. This is in Firefox 3.5.2 and 3.0.13 on two different machines both running XP.

The Advanced version is affected but the standard version operates normally.

    Any workarounds/fixes out there?

As previously mentioned, this is a problem with the Skype Firefox extension and it affects many applications, not only Zimbra. The solution is to remove the Skype Firefox extension.

Not having used it (Skype) I was not aware. Thanks for the heads up.

We discovered that this is also occurring to users who have installed an "ask.com" Firefox adoon. Disabling the addon is the solution.

Apparently writing bad Firefox addons is becoming contagious.

Saw an additional issue with the Skype Firefox extension. When it's enabled, you can not open any calendar entries without FF crashing.

Opened a Bug with Zimbra. Vote and add your comments here: https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=43350
