    Default Makeshift Distribution List access-control

    Good day all,

I'm looking for a way to implement some makeshift access-controls for some of our distribution lists. From reading other posts I understand this is a feature not yet available in Zimbra, but it _is_ something supported by Postfix...

    http://www.postfix.org/RESTRICTION_CLASS_README.html

Now I have a limited number of access lists, as I work at a private company, with very few changes in our staffing...ie-a makeshift method for a hosting company or one with frequent changes would be sub-optimal obviously. I also noticed Kevin suggesting giving mailman a try, which I've used before but am relucatant to go that direction again...

any thoughts on this, doing via the postfix fairly-low-level?? Or maybe if I wasn't such a lazy &*(@#$ this would be a good candidate for an add-on or a zimlet??

Thanks again, and thanks for the good responses on previous posts everyone, keep up the good work!

Sorry to dig up and such an old post. I am looking for a way to restrict distribution lists to internal use only. I can manage this using the info listed in the above post, but I have found that Zimbra overwrites any changes made to the postfix main.cf when started. Is there anyway to get around this?

    Thanks in advance!

Ditto. Having anyone on the planet be able to email everyone@yourcompany.com is not desirable. One way to do this would be to allow filters to be set up for distribution lists. Then you could drop all email that wasn't from your domain, and could even make exceptions for special sources. That method could be fooled, but it would cover 99% of situations. I suspect it would be very difficult to add filters to lists, however.

Default Workaround for the automatic main.cf generation

Does it work to add a POSTCONF line to /opt/zimbra/conf/zmmta.conf?

Yeah, I just found the wiki page on that: http://wiki.zimbra.com/index.php?tit...tfixRecipients

It's not ideal but it will probably get us by.
