    Default remote POP3 clients rejected

    We have users getting the following type of message when trying to send mail from their remote POP3 clients:

    The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'user@domain'. Subject 'hello', Account: 'mailserver.domain', Server: 'mailserver.domain', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554 <user@domain>: Relay access denied', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 554, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

    Are they sending to a local user and logging into Zimbra's SMTP server? Seems to me either they are trying to relay mail to Zimbra and their ISP's SMTP server is rejecting it. Or they are trying to send to a remote domain via Zimbra and Postfix is blocking it. Is there anything in /var/log/maillog ?

    Their out going SMTP server is the Zimbra server.

    We serve mail for multiple domains, some people use their ISP SMTP server like COX.net, others are trying to send out through the Zimbra mail server.

    Ok check /var/log/maillog This may give us more details.

    /var/log/maillog is empty

    Anything in /opt/zimbra/log/zimbra.log ?
