We prefer "redirect" as well; most users don't even bother to type "http..." in the browser because you don't have to anymore. The browser prepends "http://" to whatever the user types in the address bar, and having "redirect" set ensures the login and "all" subsequent traffic is https.

The extra load on the server from having all traffic be https we have found is fairly minimal, and users appreciate that their sensitive emails are being encrypted between the Zimbra server and their Desktop.
