    Default StickyNotes Zimlet problem

    ETA:

Sorry, I thought I was posting in the Zimlets section. We do *not* use the
Zimbra Desktop. The behavior we are seeing is with the web client.

Stickynotes stopped working for some of our users recently. It isn't clear why
or when. The users in question can add a new note and view it. However, the
next day they will no longer be able to view it.

Notes that were previously viewable can no longer be viewed. This has some
of the users a bit angry as a few of them put some sales info in notes. I should
probably remove the zimlet from our server and send out a notice that it is too
    unstable to use.

For one of the accounts that is exhibiting the problem would you please run
    Code:
    su - zimbra
    zmprov ga account@domain.com zimbraZimletUserProperties | grep com_zimbra_stickynotes
and see whether the Sticky Note information is there ?

Running "zmprov ga user@domain.com zimbraZimletUserProperties | grep com_zimbra_stickynotes" gives:

    Code:
    zimbraZimletUserProperties: com_zimbra_stickynotes:stickyNotes_ToolbarBtn:true
    zimbraZimletUserProperties: com_zimbra_stickynotes:turnONstickynotesZimlet:true
    zimbraZimletUserProperties: com_zimbra_stickynotes:stickyNotes_data:__id::MSG23280,__data::Deleted actual note contents.

I have been able to pinpoint an exact date when the issue occurred. All notes created
on, or before, that date are visible. All notes created afterward are not (except for the
    date they were created).

The dates are different for the various users.

    ETA:

I attempted to a take a more in depth look at the issue with Firebug. I ran out of time
but will try to look at it again as soon as I put some other issues to bed.

The notes that one of your users is saying is deleted does it show when you run the zmprov command ? If it does not then running under firebug will not help. The next step will be to look in the MySQL database and identify which mboxgroup the user is in and then look at that MSG to see if it exists.

Are you running HSM at all ?

    No HSM.

The above is the *only* note output by the zmprov command - out of many dozens that the user has added. See update below.

After looking at the zmprov output a bit, I realized that it output more of the sticky notes
than what I thought. The grep prevented me from seeing it as the output does not contain
    com_zimbra_stickynotes on each line.

With that out of the way, there is some definite weirdness going on.

The user has 11 messages that still have functioning stickynotes.

Zmprov outputs 11 lines of stickynotes.

I emphasized lines because those 11 lines contain at least 14 stickynotes. Where most
    of the lines look like:
    Code:
    :=:__id::MSG22050,__data::Some random note.
    One looks like:
    Code:
:=:__id::MSG14184,__data::Another note. :=:__id::MSG20963,__data::Yet another note. :=:__id::MSG21916,__data::Still another note.:=:__id::MSG22040,__data::And, one more note.
That particular user should have 43 notes in all. I will take a look at what is in mysql in a bit.

Please Note that sticky_notes zimlet can only hold upto 2kb data, or approx 10-12 notes due to ldap limitation. It should throw an alert if user exceeds that data(if not, then its a bug). Sorry for the trouble.

We are working on implementing a newer version of the Zimlet that would eliminate this limitation. Please stay tuned.

    Well, that would explain it.

I will notify my users to archive their existing notes and then disable the zimlet.

I am sorry if this is not the right way, just bringing some attention to it. I am facing a problem with stickynotes zimlet 1.5, the note won't leave the screen when moving to a next mail. Please see this thread
