Default problem with amavisd or other zimbra processes

We have a 2-node Red Hat / zimbra cluster.
While trying to troubleshoot random problems the cluster has (not necessarily related to zimbra) I ran the command "ps axl | grep D" to find processes in D state that might be troublesome. Only the node with zimbra on it has this output. [please see attacment - result of 'ps axl | grep D']

Why do zimbra processes have so many (unstable) D states.

    Thank you
