Unhappy zimbra 6.0 altermine does not append disclaimer

I have been battling this issue for several weeks now and cant find a solution. I have enabled global domain disclaimers using the following commands:

    zmprov mcf zimbraDomainMandatoryMailSignatureEnabled TRUE/FALSE
    zmprov mcf zimbraDomainMandatoryMailSignatureText "some text"
zmprov mcf zimbraDomainMandatoryMailSignatureHTML "<html><body>some body text</body></html>"
    zmamavisdctl restart
It works on my test server, but on a production box the disclaimer is not being appended to any emails being sent by the users. So i compared all the conf files manually from both servers and nothing jumped out as obviously out of place.

Then i checked the zimbra logs and it looks like it is skipping that portion completely as shown below. As you can see on the logs from the working server. amavis caches the emails, then mangles it using altermine with the disclaimer. while the non working server skips that completely and doesnt even attempt to add the sig. If anyone has any ideas that can point me in the right direction that would be great.

    partial Log from non-working server:

Check the amavisd.conf files between both boxes for differences.

I compared the amavisd.conf files from both servers using a txt file comparison tool the other day just to make sure i didnt miss anything. Apart from differences in items sucj as hostname and connection password lines, they are exactly the same.

I think i have an idea where the problem is coming from, but i am not sure where to begin trouble shooting.

This server was configured as the backend for a godaddy hosted email domain. i used the Split domains wiki to ensure that if an email address @cardiacall.com doesnot exist on the zimbra server, then the server should send that message to the web hosted email server. i used the section "Configuring Zimbra as the Secondary System " to make this happen and it works very well.

I suspect that while this is happening, zimbra/amavis is somehow skipping over the altermin process. does this sound like a valid assumption. and if so is there any way around this problem?

i really appreciate you attention to my post.

Open relay? Nonlocal recips but not originating

after a few more hours of research i strongly believe this is where the process is broken. any ideas on troubleshooting this issue?

It appears that you have not configured MYNETS on the non-working server to include the IP Address range your users are connecting from. I'm not near my server right now - but I believe the MYNETS configuration is in amavisd.conf.in (or something very close to that name)

    Working server
    Mar 15 01:44:25 localhost amavis[26715]: (26715-06) Checking: 3Ec6xQkrUPQU MYNETS [127.0.0.1]

    Non-working Server
    Mar 15 11:08:23 zmail amavis[26783]: (26783-03) Checking: FQIaHe3uNSCx [172.168.9.16]

Note that MYNETS is not listed here ...

If the 172.168.9.16 address is not a local address then I believe you would need to have those users use ASMTP to send the email after authenticating to the server.

Ya thats what i thought it was, but mynets were configured.

The problem was from using the split domains wiki. I ended up resinstalling the server from scratch and was able to determine that under the Servers menu tree, on the MTA tab in the network section; the webmail MTA hostname should be localhost. this then allowed the email to follow the correct path instead of showing up as: Open relay? Nonlocal recips but not originating. for some reason when configuring split domiains this value was changed to smtp.ISPname.net

i havent reimplemented the split domains for now, but since very few email addresses on their godaddy server do not have a matching address on the zimbra server i think i can live with it for a couple of weeks

    Hi,

I have this working now thanks to this thread.

Only thing is, in the case of the text version I would like to improve the formatting of our fairly lengthy disclaimer (it's about 8 lines long divided into two paragraphs).
I realise with the HTML version I can use tags to specify new lines, etc but obviously with the text version you can't do this.

Because it's typed in as part of the zmprov mcf zimbraDomainMandatoryMailSignatureText command you can only have it as one long paragraph.
I have noticed that there is a global-default.txt file under data/altermime but after changing this and restarting amavis it is automatically replaced with the text entered directly in with the command above.

How is it best to accomplish this request please Guys?

    Thanks
    Russ
