    Default LDAP Logfile

I have some auth problems by using the Zimbra LDAP for authentication, so I wanted to do some troubleshooting.

    I did:

    zmlocalconfig -e ldap_common_loglevel=256 (tried -1 as well)
    zmcontrol stop/start

I expected the slapd stuff to show up in /var/log/zimbra.log, but nothing in there at all, also nothing in /var/log/messages.

    Where is slapd logging to?

I'd recommend both looking at the LDAP Authentication wiki page (which includes how to setup logging) at:
LDAP Authentication - Zimbra :: Wiki

Also, when troubleshooting LDAP authentication issues I find it much easier to use a packet capture program (either on the LDAP server or client). Wireshark (formerly Ethereal) has helped a lot for me in the past - even on systems which are MUCH more of a PITA than Zimbra's (relatively painfree) LDAP authentication.

    Good luck!

    Default *bump*

We are having the exact same problem.

Currently greeping thru the OpenLDAP patches in Zimbra OSS source.

Maybe we should open a bug, because the ldap setting for logging is being set as documented and nothing happens.

    digging on...
