    Default 64bit performance advantage?

For those of you that have played around with version 4 (3.2), is there any performance advantage of going 64 bit?

We haven't really done the perf tests, but one thing you'll notice is that the 64 bit jvm can address more than 2gb RAM, so if you're on a big box, that's a bonus right there.

From my benchmarking, there tends to be a 2-5% advantage on Java CPU bound proccesses. On Disk bound proccess, not much. Windows 64 tends to be about 5% faster then Win 32. It's not quite as pronounced on linux in my experience.

    Default memory limitation is significant

I did not realize that the java limit was 2gb for 32 bit.
Are there other tweaks with the new 4 that I should be aware of? 64bit or 32bit?

Not just java but any process unless you use a special kernel which can give you 3GB in certain cases in 32bit mode. 4.0 has some new features and many bug fixes compared to 3.1.x. See the release notes for more info.
